Take part in the Mass Lobby for migrant rights on 11th March at Westminster Hall. Email your MP and ask them to meet you there.
The Government wants to double the standard wait time to get permanent settlement from 5 to 10 years. 10 years is long enough to build a life, a family, a career. And for some, it'll be a staggering 30 year wait.
These changes will affect over a million people who already live and work here - destabilising communities, undermining already-fragile public services, and forcing people into years of avoidable insecurity. It will effectively create a permanent second-class population in our society - people who live, work, and raise families here, yet are never allowed to belong.
We urgently need MPs to step up for migrants and refugees. The goal of the Mass Lobby is to show the scale of support for migrant rights in the UK, and to educate our MPs about these impact of these policies, and call on them to speak out.
Send your MP a quick email now - we need as many people there as possible!
- What is a Mass Lobby?
A Mass Lobby is when a large group of people arrange to meet their MP at the same time to advocate about a particular issue. It's an effective and important way to show MPs that their constituents feel strongly about an issue and encourage them to take action.
It's an opportunity to show a strong display of solidarity with migrants and refugees in a time when migrant and refugee rights are under attack.
- How does it work?
