Give the Gift of Power this Winter

This Government’s hostile policies are pushing thousands of people to breaking point like never before.

Your donation could cover the costs of a campaigning training session for someone who has experienced hostile immigration policies to fight for change.

Mohammed's story

Mohammed is a young man in his mid ‘20s and he dreams of becoming a midwife. Yet, he can’t move forward with his life – until the Home Office processes his asylum application, cruel immigration policies prevent him from working or studying.

Until his application is processed, he is forced to live off government handouts of £40 a week. For months, Mohammed has been campaigning for better conditions for those seeking asylum. He and other members of one of our groups started a campaign calling for better housing solutions for people in the asylum system. He has also spoken up about granting people seeking asylum the right to work. His words have been featured on several news outlets, including BBC.

He feels good about being able to campaign on issues that directly affect him and having his voice heard. He hopes that his actions will have a positive impact on many more people whose asylum claim are also stuck in the Home Office backlog.

With Praxis’ support, Mohammed and the other campaigners in the group have been able to build a campaigning message and put it out to the public domain. They also created a space where they can open up about their experiences and share their emotions. As Mohammed put it, Praxis’ campaign support is crucial to their success and wellbeing.
