The Windrush Scandal is not over.
The Government is claiming they are doing everything they can to help the victims of the very scandal they created. Yet out of 20 people affected by the scandal we spoke to, only 3 have received compensation. The compensation scheme was meant to repair the damage caused to the Windrush Generation, instead it is adding insult to injury.
What’s worse, to this this day, people left in desperate situations by the mistakes of the Government are still coming to Praxis for help.
Some are still barred from accessing work because of "the wrong paperwork". Others have been made destitute after years of financial hardship and no compensation. This Government has shown no interest in “learning from” from the Windrush Scandal.
Together, we've worked tirelessly since 2018 to shine a light on the injustices of the Windrush Scandal, but there's still more to do.
