Whoever we are, whatever our background, we all want to live in safety and dignity.
More than 2 million people in our communities are prevented from accessing a safety net, even during these tough times, simply because of the fine print on their visas. From Universal Credit to homelessness assistance, support is barred from a person due to their immigration status.

- Why it matters
97% of people we spoke to said they're worried or very worried about the cost of living, but two thirds of them said they'd received no help from the government yet.
No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) is a government policy which means you are denied access to any kind of welfare safety net, even if you’re working for very low pay or facing a crisis.
Before food prices shot up last year, many people with the NRPF condition were already struggling to make ends meet. Then facing soaring inflation, the bulk of cost of living support was unavailable to them. This combination has had detrimental impacts we see every day.
